Books You Wish More People Knew About - Part 2

So many people have added books to the first list, that it has become very hard to find those little books you wish got more exposure, so here we go. Let's agree to one rule: NO BESTSELLERS OR BOOKS THAT ARE BEING MADE INTO MOVIES. So no Hunger Games, no City of Bones, no Harry Potter. Books can be trad pub, indie, self pubbed, older release or new.

Amar Idris mild

Personally, "To Say Nothing of the Dog" didn't do it for me. Seemed to be trying much too hard.
The Ballad of Young Tam Lin is much more to my liking. Can't stop thinking about it.

message 3: by Silver (new)

Silver How come Fablehaven is on the list? It has above 30,000 ratings. So that counts as a popular book, doesn't it?

And while I love Percy Jackson, it shouldn't be on the lesser known books list.

message 4: by L.M. (new)

L.M. Smith I just added two books to the list that I am relatively certain none of you have ever heard of but, since you seem to enjoy paranormal/supernatural fiction, I think you will really like. Well, I hope you like them. If you decide to read them, please let me know what you thought.

They are:
The Citizens (A Jazz Nemesis Novel) by L.M. Smith Dhampiri by L.M. Smith

message 5: by Masha (new)

Masha I think once the volume of reviews goes into thousands for a book, it should be classified as a well known book (at users discretion not to add to the list); tens of thousands - we should remove them from the list. comments/opinions?

message 6: by Masha (new)

Masha I've added a couple of French books, but they have been translated into English

Kathy (Kindle-aholic) I think I have to be a librarian to edit the list. I've asked GR about it.

I would remove Percy, but would keep Fablehaven as it is 6 years old and conceivable that new readers to the genre wouldn't necessarily know about it.

message 8: by Wren (new)

Wren I deleted The Lightning Thief, it clearly doesn't belong on this list...it's a bestseller and a movie!

message 9: by D.L. (new)

D.L. Christopher Added a few gems, I think the most rated has 13'000 (The Magus), but there are a few there which should much better known (Periodic Table, Book of Dave etc), hope anyone that picks one up enjoys it as much as I have.

message 10: by Haniccol (new)

Haniccol I'm kind of all over the place genre wise and story style wise on the books I suggested, but all of them are excellent in their own way. Happy reading!

message 11: by Jenny (new)

Jenny There is talk of a movie being made of Angelfall, FYI

message 12: by Jenny (new)

Jenny I added 9 new ones, a lot of them I've done a blog tour for. These books really impressed me, and a lot of them are debuts! Almost all are self published!

message 13: by Mia (new)

Mia so, books under 20,000 ratings from the other list should ou shouldnt be on this?

Kathy (Kindle-aholic) mia wrote: "so, books under 20,000 ratings from the other list should ou shouldnt be on this?"

I don't care. I started this list because of the complaints that the previous list was too long. So many books on the other list are just lost because the thing is freakishly huge.

message 15: by Mia (new)

Mia yeah, I noticed - that's why I asking.

Kathy (Kindle-aholic) mia wrote: "yeah, I noticed - that's why I asking."

Add what you like to this list, so long as it is not "too" well known. :)

message 18: by Sammm (last edited Jul 20, 2020 06:15PM) (new)

Sammm Started when there were 906 books (10pages) when done removing the 20K+ ratings ones, 855 books left. (Though now I'm going to start voting so there'd be more lol.)

I know there's a couple of 19K+ ones when I was sweeping, will probably look back at the end of the year to remove newer unqualified ones. xD
