E.J. Koh's Books to Celebrate Asian American Fiction, Non-Fiction, Memoir, Graphic Novel, and Poetry
Goodreads asked author E.J. Koh to share her recommended reading list with us. Koh is a poet, author, and translator. Her most recent publication is the memoir The Magical Language of Others, winner of the Pacific Northwest Book Award, available now in the U.S.
From E.J. Koh: "My list of Asian American fiction, non-fiction, memoir, graphic novel, and poetry of 2020 is not complete but may serve as a guide to other works. Asian American literature is diverse and cannot be neatly contained under a single heading or a list, yet it is urgent to share, read, and hear works from those unshared, unread, unheard spaces of Asian American literature.
With the surge of anti-Asian racism in America amid the Covid-19 pandemic, I urge you to reach out to the authors of these books you might hold close at this time. Words, as I have come to love them, can travel the distance we cannot."
