If you're looking for MG & YA books that don't feature slavery, Jim Crow, racism, colorism, sports and the like, please see this list:
Middle Grade & Young Adult Books Written by African-American Authors That Don't Feature Slavery, Civil Rights, Race, Colorism, or Sports
I know this may be hard for those in the publishing industry to believe, but African-American lives don't revolve around misery and woe. I'm noticing these subjects are DISPROPORTIONATE to stories that are adventurous, fun and carefree with FULL black casts. So I created the list above to try help black parents, kids and lovers of MG and YA. Please feel free to add to it. Publishing industry, feel free to stop jamming these subjects down our throats. It's low-key racism and y'all are not slick.

I'm removing A Song of Wraiths and Ruin (A Song of Wraiths and Ruin, #1) by Roseanne A. Brown because the author is not African-American.

Tiffany D Jackson is not African American. She's West Indian American (Jamaican and Trinidadian). And Tristan Strong Punches a Hole in the Sky was a 2019 release.

I've removed "Tristan Strong Punches a Hole in the Sky". Can you prove Ms. Jackson is not African-American? I did a quick google search and I'm not seeing anything.
Thank you.

On Twitter she's spoken about her background many times. She's Jamaican/Trinidadian American. She even has the flags in her bio

Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo, Raybearer by Jordan Ifueko, A Song of Wraiths and Ruin by Roseanne A. Brown have been removed because the authors are not African-Amercan.
I deleted You Should See Me in a Crown by Leah Johnson because it has to be a physical book. No audiobooks on the list.I deleted a book by Kalynn Bayron because she's a mixed race woman trying to pass as black. Don't know why, but she clearly is of mixed race.
The Case of the Missing Hello House was delayed, it appears indefinitely. There's no current release date for it.
