YA Novels that Poorly Portray Mental Illness

Books that do NOT do a good job of portraying mental illness.

They could be inaccurate, two dimensionalize people with the illness, sensationalize the illness, simplify the recovery process, or otherwise poorly portray mental illness.

Definitions:

Mental illness: A mental disorder such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, anorexia, bulimia, or borderline personality disorder. The character should be diagnosed with the disorder, or the disorder should be clearly inferred.

YA: Young adult. The book should be intended for a youth audience (13-19)

If possible, write the reason why you think the book poorly portrays mental illness.
