Travis from Beautiful Disaster, really? He effs other girls when the love of his life is literally just next door, sleeping. I don't know, but i wouldn't exactly call that the BEST. Yeah, at times he was sweet but nah, just nah.

Marie Yeah but physically isn't the only way to hurt someone.

Zea Yeah, but he always threatened other people who she talked to. He got unreasonably jealous and picket petty fights. He's nobody's idea of a perfect boyfriend.

I mean seriously guys, Fifty Shades of Gray and the other books on this list, WTF? Liking a character is fine, liking a book is fine but those books dont belong this list.Specially top is filled with obsessive control freak, stalker boyfriends. If thats what you like thats fine but so many people want a boyfriends like these?Wow, world is doomed

message 67: by Rouxna (new)

Rouxna The outrage about "abusive" book boyfriends so funny. Get real people. Every girl's dream is a bad boy who is CRAZY about just her. Where's the abuse in that? Its fiction!!!!!!

message 68: by Rouxna (new)

Rouxna Remmington "Riptide" Tate should so top this list.

message 69: by Faz (new)

Faz awesome list guys!

another totally awesome guy is Liam from The Boy Who Sneaks in my Bedroom Window - Kirsty Moseley

I love Travis but Liam is in SCHOOL or CLASS of his own.

message 70: by Faz (new)

Faz lol the comments is hilarious. people fell in love with travis because hes damaged and theres so many complicated issues going on with him. Cristian was descriptively ht in looks but really it horribly written novel i dont know why its a hit let alone a memory. edward cullen is just a joke seriously.

PEOPLE PLEASE READ THIS BOOK I MENTIONED ABOVE AS WELL AS BINDING ARBITRATION BY ELIZABETH MARX. THEN REVISE THE LIST

message 75: by Hannah (new)

Hannah These books are voted on by the readers, I don't understand how so many commenters can have issues with other people's opinions - if you don't agree, vote a different way! There, problem solved. Another thing, I think A LOT of you women commenting are throwing the word "abusive" abound with little to no basis for it. All I'm saying is be careful, when you do that, a word can lose its meaning, we certainly wouldn't want that. I've read some of the books you're referencing and I would strongly disagree with the term "abusive". Let's remember abuse is a fact, not an opinion and the female isn't always the victim. Psychological behaviors make characters complex and unique, can't always fit them into a cookie cutter description - so while you see controlling, someone else may see as caring, certainly not abusive....

Saccharine Sydney HAHAHAHA HOLY SHIT, THIS LOST IS FULL OF ACTUAL SOCIOPATHS. DEAR GOD I AM IN TEARS.

TRAVIS ISN'T THE BEST :D I know a lot of good characters that deserve to be the first. Travis is ok, not my type but i think he is good, im just saying that...HE IS NOT THE BEST BOOK BOYFRIEND!

Preach it, soul sitsah. Also, get out of my brain.

Saccharine Sydney Rouxna wrote: "The outrage about "abusive" book boyfriends so funny. Get real people. Every girl's dream is a bad boy who is CRAZY about just her. Where's the abuse in that? Its fiction!!!!!!"

Are you joking? That's not every girl's...Jesus penises, no. Personally, my dream dude is Milo Thatch (or Ester Dean), so I guess by your standards I'm not a female, huh? Let me just go and gouge out my ovaries then.

And yes, it is a huge problem. Do you know why? The more of this stuff that impressionable teens are exposed to, the more they'll start thinking it's normal. It's not. You hear about women getting beaten and raped all the time on the news; does that just go right out your brain, or what? Because it always starts with exactly this kind of thing. The behaviour in these books are absolutely abuse, and if you're too blind to see that, well, have fun putting your bones back in.

The Sydney has spoken. /sashays out

I have no idea why but I laughed so hard when I read your comment! (: (: Not because it was absurd but because it was anything but that! Disturbing is exactly how I would describe Travis being the best book boyfriend! Are you kidding me, people? He is a rogue, obsessive, lunatic, abusive boyfriend who not old womanizes but destructs. Ugh, makes me mad that he is on top. Very disturbing!

Viniti i wud love to

message 83: by Reeva (new)

Reeva I love how women are so against men in the real world who are controlling and hit women, yet clearly this list suggests that the best boyfriends are pyschos... Im not voting at all in this stupid list.

message 84: by Amanda (new)

Amanda I'm glad to find I'm not the only one disgusted by this list.

Before anyone makes a comment about how Travis or Christian is the best boyfriend there ever will be, take a look at this list about warning signs on domestic violence. If anyone wants to make an argument then, please do, but don't expect me to ever change my mind on these psychotic "best boyfriend".

Rebecca Akanksha ❤ wrote: "Read Walking Disaster and then say Travis isn't the best."
lol that made me laugh - the way you threw that in there but I agree - in Beautiful Disaster he was kinda strange , I just didn't like him as much as when I read Walking Disaster and I think with getting to understand his childhood and frame of mind comes the understanding of why he is the way he is . I actually fell in love with him a bit after WD . I also found I liked his book better than the first which is weird cos it isn't usually that way for me

I'm a teen and have read Fifty Shades and Beautiful Disaster and I'm more than aware that they're not functional relationships but that's two books , there are plenty on the list that I've read with 'normal' relationships and at the end of the day it's fictional and I think the reason those books are at the top of the list is because of the all-consuming love the male characters have for the females - though this doesn't mean I necessarily agree with them being at the top of the list and in a way their behaviour is understandable - Christian because he wants to be able to protect Ana the way his mother couldn't protect him , and Travis because he found a woman he really loved and his mother told him never to let that woman go - and he didn't want to . How they go about doing what they do is wrong but their intentions are good .
But as far as book boyfriends for me it'd be someone like Caden from Hearts of Darkness or Mason from Fallen Crest High or even Hunter from My Favourite Mistake ...

message 87: by Marie (last edited Aug 02, 2013 01:27PM) (new)

Marie To be, the problem is not that some women/girls love characters like Christian or Travis in books. To be, the problem is that a lot of women/girls would want to kind of men in real life. I love a lot of characters kile Barron from Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning who has killed, raped and tortured people. I also loved Vaught from Unsticky by Sarra Manning who is selish and let's just say, not the perfect man. I loved them IN BOOKS. In a fictional world that doesn't exist. But I would never let one of them come near me in real life. I know they're not nice men.

And I agree with you, a lot of women probably love those kind of characters because of their all-consuming love for the female character but personaly, I would never want that from a man. I love my freedom and Travis and Christian (and a lot of men in this list) are way too much controlling. They don't want the girl they love to speak to another man for exemple and that's just ridiculous and immature to me.

But like I said, I can see the apeal (kind of) of those characters. Just as long as people like those kind of persons in BOOKS and not in real life ;)

message 88: by Natalia (last edited Aug 04, 2013 01:13PM) (new)

Natalia Iosifaki okay..guys.....every opinion is important.mine is that in beautiful disaster i saw travis maddox as the guy half girls fantasise about..though he appeared to be a bit of a jerk.....but then reading walking disaster....well..you can see then that right from the start travis was definately not playing games with abby as she thought he was and that she was everything to him....and she was a total BITCH.he really was trying to be a better guy for her even though he didnt think he could be.he tried to change.and in some ways he did.but its that overprotectiveness and that overposessiveness which made him so damn irrisistable...he even managed to be romantic and caring and simply adorable in some parts.yeah he is dangerous an hot-tempered but thats just the way he is..and when you read the first pages of walking disaster and those staff about his mom you can understand why he is that way..why he is not settling down with someone he is not in love with....he is looking for a pigeon.and when he finally found her he tried to pull away.cuz he knew he wasnt any good for her.he tried.and failed.he called her pigeon without realizing he did.and then he knew.from the moment he saw her he knew.and all she did was break his heart.too many times.it broke my heart just reading about it..okay.she was partly right to pull away cause he was too much trouble.but he was worth it.every guy somehow is worth the try.and that moment with the fire and his brother!! i mean c'mon....how much could i possibly cry in one book?? okay...this is my opinion and i dont mind anyone who does not agree with me..lets agree to disagree :)

Rebecca Marie wrote: "To be, the problem is not that some women/girls love characters like Christian or Travis in books. To be, the problem is that a lot of women/girls would want to kind of men in real life. I love a l..."
yeah I agree Marie , I wouldn't let half the character's in the books I read come near me in real life either , though they are great in a fictional world ;-)and the 'overprotectiveness' is a bit stifling sometimes in the books and I definitely wouldn't like or put up with it in reality .
Why do you like Kile Barron if he rapes and kills people ? Lol

message 90: by Marie (new)

Marie It's not easy to explain why I love Barons despite the fact that he has killed and raped before without spoiling the Fever series. Let's just say he's a very interesting and charismatic character and why I firmly believe that rape is never okay or justified, because of the context of the situation and because some things I can't talk about without spoiling the books, I'm okay with it.

message 91: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca I really wish you would spoil the books for me just so I get to know :-( lol

How many books are there in the series ? I assume they're all about him and him raping and killing people and the reasons behind it etc ?

message 92: by Marie (new)

Marie The Fever series is a 5 books series but the author plan to write two more in a few years.

And no, the series isn't about him but another character called Mackayla that moves to another country because her sister was killed and she wants answers. It's a urban fantasy series. Barrons is not the main character but he's a big part of Mac journey.
And no lol. It's not about him raping and killing people at all. The rape is mention once (I think) and he doesn't really kill that many people in the series but it is a part of his background I would say.

message 93: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Do they get together or something and then she uncovers his horrible history ? That'd probably be really awkward ... Aww her poor sister , did Barrons kill her ?

Marie Rebecca wrote: "Do they get together or something and then she uncovers his horrible history ? That'd probably be really awkward ... Aww her poor sister , did Barrons kill her ?"

No he didn't kill her loll. And they don't really ''get together'' for real until the last book and she already know, I wouldn't say everything about him, but...she knows everything she wants and needs to know about him.

Actually, despite everything horrible he has done (and will probably do in the future too loll), he helps Mac a lot. Not only because he wants to find something something and needs her help to find it but also because in his own twisted way, he cares about her. He
helps her become a stronger person.

message 96: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca That's sweet of him in a really twisted way considering all the bad he's done . I guess he's lucky he finds someone who doesn't judge him for what he's done ... Lol
