Tanto bianco, opposto al buio che avvolge alcuni protagonisti. Paesaggi nordici da cartolina opposti agli interni desolati descritti nel libro. Il libro è scandito in giorni, Dahl è molto abile ad intricare la trama, creando curiosità in chi legge, si è spinti ad andare avanti per comprendere meglio.
