MG: The Brontes, Salman Rushdie, Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, Flannery O'Connor, Truman Capote, Carson McCullers, Shakespeare, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Joan Didion, Mary Karr.
SS: Is there a book you love to reread?
MG: Wuthering Heights
SS: Do you have one sentence of advice for new writers?
MG: Write every day and trust your own ideas!
SS: What comment do you hear most often from your readers?
MG: That they can really identify with the characters in my books, that they feel like they are inside the character's head and heart.

MG: Wuthering Heights, To Kill A Mockingbird, Shalimar The Clown, House of the Spirits, Cherry. And Pablo Neruda: The Complete Verses.
SS: What were your previous occupations?
MG: I have been an actress since I was seventeen and I still am, I never had a different job!
SS: What was/is your favorite job?
MG: Being a writer, by far!
