SS: What’s your greatest fear?
SW: I'm not so thrilled about pain and death.
SS: If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you choose to be?
SW: Right here, at home. Or France. Or the Arctic Circle. Or. . .
SS: What is your biggest pet peeve?
SW: People who don't do what they say.
SS: What 3 personal qualities are most important to you?
SW: honesty, kindness, humor
SS: How would you describe perfect happiness?
SW: Oh, there's a joyful place that I've come to recognize. It's sun reflecting off a mountain lake, or playing with my dog and forgetting everything else. It's knowing our kids are happy. Knowing I finished something well - especially if it was hard to do. Being with friends and laughing until we can't remember what was funny to begin with. For me, happiness is measured in moments.
SS: What are your most overused words or phrases?
SW: Man, I have no idea. Man. Geez, what a question. Man.
SS: What do you regret most?
SW: Regrets are best used in writing books.
SS: What trait is most noticeable about you?
SW: Physically? I hope it's my smile.
SS: If you could acquire any talent, what would it be?
SW: I would love to be an accomplished pianist - or can I fly?
SS: Who is your favorite fictional hero?
SW: I've always loved Anne of Green Gables.
SS: Who is your favorite fictional villain?
SW: I'm not much for villains, but Captain Hook scared me and Golum from the Lord of the Rings haunted me.
SS: What is your favorite occupation, when you’re not writing?
SW: Exploring back roads.
SS: What’s your fantasy profession?
SW: Zoo keeper
SS: If you could eat only one thing for the rest of your days, what would it be?
SW: sweet tamales - or fresh crab or mangos or avacados or chocolate. Please, do I have to pick?

SW: Teacher, Christmas card folder, file clerk, ice cream scooper

SW: being a writer

SW: University of California, Davis
SS: How would you describe your life in only 8 words?
SW: Pretty darn good. I can't imagine being bored.

SW: You pretty much get what you give.
