Sometimes Mr. Right turns out to be Mr. Not-Right-Yet.

In Renée Carlino's new romance, Wish You Were Here, Charlotte can't believe her luck when she meets Adam, a sweet, hunky painter who shares champagne and Chinese food with her on a whirlwind late-night date. Then Adam gives her the cold shoulder the next morning. Confused and hurt, Charlotte tries to put the incident behind her…until their paths cross months later and the truth of that fateful first date is revealed.

Carlino, who also wrote Swear on This Life and Before We Were Strangers, shares some of her favorite stories about giving love another chance, from an epic romance about the decisions that drive lovers apart to a "hilarious and terrifying" thriller about obsession.

"This is a contemporary romance with a supernatural twist. The story spans multiple generations and should come with a warning: Read with a box of tissues."

"Epic is the only way I can describe this book. It is told in second-person POV and felt like the most intense love letter I ever read. A love letter to a best friend, a lover, and to New York City. For me it was about the desire to tell one person everything you have felt for them, to explain the complex and difficult decisions we make in life that affect our loved ones. It's a story of loving, longing, friendship, marriage, and a lifelong bond two people share. This is one of my favorite books, and it will stay with me forever."

"This standalone second-chance romance heats up 17 years later in a small town in Tennessee. After being betrayed by her husband, the heroine and her children move back home, not thinking he would be there to open up old wounds she thought had forever been closed."

"This is not a romance but a brilliant account of an obsessive and deluded man who has managed to master the art of manipulation and stalking while still somehow appealing to the reader. It is written in second person, and Kepnes' writing is at times hilarious and terrifying all at once. It's a contemporary and unpredictable story with twists and turns that will make you question the intentions of even the most charming people in your life."

Peggie Biessmann Thank you for this blog. I have written a "second chance" novel, too, but I had no idea they were so in vogue! This one is about two mature women who have to re-think their lives.
