It's probably not fair to rate this book at all, let alone one star, but I've been trying to read it for about two weeks and have only managed to force my way 3/4 of the way through. That's a bit ridiculous for me. I can read five hundred pages in a day if I am engrossed. Obviously, this book did not engross me. I'm a little bummed because I bought this and the next two installments at the same time after reading reviews saying this one ends in a major cliffhanger. I don't see how any cliffhange ...more

I received this on a gift exchange in my book club and I'm glad I picked this one. There has been a lot of raves and buzz about this series -- it came highly recommended by my book club friend (who was named in the Acknowledgment page, yay!) so finally, I got the chance to read it. The concept is so unique to me -- I don't know if there's been one of its kind written prior, so please enlighten me -- and it did not disappoint. Wish I could say I LOVED it but I did enjoy it. It is part of a series so the end is a bit of a cliff hanger, and if you don't like that kind of thing you might want to wait until the whole series is out.
I loved the characters of Cinder and Prince Kai.I really want to know what happens to them so I will be reading the rest of the series. I think my only problem was that the book was too predictable.
