I have a feeling that this author was heavily influenced by the early works of Stephen King and Robert R. McCammon, which is by no means a bad thing, and would probably be my fate were I to write a novel.
The character development could have used a little bit more tweaking, I didn't develop an immediate rapport with any of them. However the constant edge of the seat action really did help to make up for it. I'm eager to see what happens next, and already have a copy of book 2 loaded on my Kindle. ...more

I read this book because the movie is coming out, but I had no expectation that I'd like it. I thought it might be a version of the Twilight books. My expectations were completely unfair. Although it's clearly for the "Twilight" era young reader, it's a much better book. Strong women characters, a slightly unrealistic world, but still interesting. A main character who is complicated, flawed and well worth rooting for. A fun read!
