I had set my hopes high for Legend, and that might be where I went wrong. I liked the premise of the book and there were some genuinely unique ideas presented by the author. Unfortunately, the characters (and I mean all of them) were both predictable and one dimensional. I also felt that all scenes involving romance came off as contrived and unrealistic. When characters lose a much loved family member, I expect them to be upset about the situation for more than a few minutes. Facing squalor and ...more

Another YA dystopian tale. Similar to Veronica Roth's Divergent in some ways which will make a lot of people want to read it. I'd probably read the sequel , because of course this is the first book in a planned trilogy. ...more

A passable and distracting future dystopian teen page-turner - 1st of a trilogy.

I almost want to give this book 4 stars - one extra just because it was fun to read. It moved right along, had some guts and wasn't afraid to hit below the belt. It's got some flaws (main characters are on the flat side) but it's entertaining and worth a look if you enjoy the genre. It'll be interesting to see if the author can overcome the dreaded 2nd book-itis that a lot of these dystopian books seem plagued by. ...more

This is one of the smoothest stories I have ever read - smooth is an odd word - but still...This book is so seamless, the editor must have been a genius (and the author, of course). There weren't too many loose threads - considering it seems to be another one of those darn series books....The author was great moving things forward and the characters were likeable. I look forward to the next book. ...more

Super popular ya romance post apocalyptic. Another from my read it because it is popular on goodreads. Not bad actually. Definitely a page turner and not too long. A pretty simple setup though the world itself under the covers is interesting. The bad guys are a bit too obviously bad. And we don't get to see as much as the world as might have been done in a more typical sf work. But readable. ...more

Eh, not bad. Nothing super different than all the other dystopian YA series. I'll probably read on but it won't be a priority. ...more
