A massive disease wipes out 95% (I think) of the world's population in minutes. Eventually the dead rise and become increasingly aggressive.

It took me a while to get into this book. The pace was pretty slow through most of it and while normally the difference between British English and American English doesn't bother me, for some reason I initially found it very distracting.

The creative new take on the living dead as well as a few likeable characters and an interesting story
