I'd listened to this audiobook some years back and remembered it as a spooky end of the world story. I referred to it while talking to my daughter one day which made her want to listen to it. It wasn't as spooky as I remembered and the ending made no sense to me. Daughter enjoyed it though. ...more

An OK take on a War of the Worlds style invasion.

I would've liked to see more of the human side of the story though. The middle two thirds seems completely devoted to describing the variety of horrors visited upon the earth. It would have been more interesting to focus a bit more on characters and the human experience.

An alien race appears to terraform the earth. Or do they?
A fast-paced, pulse-quickening apocalypse novel that had me wondering which of the many conclusions I imagined would happen, right up to the end. Good paced story, but repetitive prose.

This is my favorite Dean Koontz book that I've read so far. Just thinking about it gives me the creeps. Really dark, really spooky. Love the ending. ...more
