Why have I never read John Scalzi before? He's wonderful. This book was wonderful. It was wacky and strange and fascinating. I just loved it.

Liked it much less than I expected to, but didn't hate it. The world was really hard to get into, especially since the story turned from good old-fashioned sci-fi into a procedural thriller more like the work of David Baldacci. It was a good political thriller, but that's not the same as a good sci-fi novel, and ends up more like one of the Dune sequels that we all have a vague feeling of regret about.
