"Thrown Away: In a Fallen World" is the first part in a serialized novel that reminded me of "Wool" and "Zero Hour" by Eamon Ambrose. It's dark, both post-apocalyptic and dystopian, and it's primarily set in the head of the main protagonist. Lots of introspection from our main character, who's hiding from Hunters in the desolate environment outside of the barrier, as he recalls the events of his life and his year-long journey with a small boy he encountered two years earlier.
