Greatly written, good pacing, nice character (though perhaps the only nice one in the whole history) and a very creative take on the mythology.

Will I ever get over this novel? Will I ever not want to be reading it? I don't think I will. This is almost a month after finishing, and I still feel like picking it up again. Circe's words are still with(in) me. Madeline Miller's prose is beautiful, simply beautiful, captivating. Her characters are alive, lovely, hateful, present, all of the above—I honestly thought she could never top The Song of Achilles, and I'm not sure she has, but who knows? This might be it. I won't put it past her. ...more

I can't even begin to say how much I enjoyed this book. It's only fair to say we finally have a different point of view inside Greek Mythology, and most importantly, a female point of view. I found myself re-reading history and embracing all of its shades. Circe was one of my favorite characters ever and I feel honored that something so beautiful and true was written about her - even though I sometimes thought she would've acted differently. This plot is about feminism, empowerment, suffering, a ...more

This was a beautiful story, quiet and meaningful. It's not an action-packed, fast-paced book, but there are expertly crafted actions, events and happenings. There aren't flowery imageries, but the descriptions are intense and deeply meaningful to the story. There is no regular arc or plot (no clear first and second act, that I could tell), but it develops so beautifully you don't miss it at all.

This is simply a gorgeous story about humanity, and about how it has changed at the same tim

Personagens como Catarina, a Grande, Joana D'Arc, Helena ...more

This was interesting...

This book is different from what I usually read, and it had some parts that I didn't enjoy. However, it is an amazing mythology book.

The story here is about a nymph that was sent to an island as a punishment and all her story on that island. I really recommend this to the people who like mythology and good storytelling.
