There are a lot of different versions of Medusa's story, which is explained in the author's note at the end, and *trigger warning* this one is focused on rape culture. Control over women--including rape--played a huge role in how Medusa ended up where she did, and this book does a fantastic job of making her into a woman, and not the monster she's so often portrayed as.
