I was left spellbound by the way all things came together. Doerr does a great job weaving between stories the overarching ancient narrative told in snippets at the beginning of each chapter.

The characters were all interesting. It really felt like you got to know them as you walked a lifetime's journey with most. You saw their influences, how they tried fitting into their respective worlds, their failures and successes. They were people you become invested in as the narrative builds their storie
