I was left spellbound by the way all things came together. Doerr does a great job weaving between stories the overarching ancient narrative told in snippets at the beginning of each chapter.
The characters were all interesting. It really felt like you got to know them as you walked a lifetime's journey with most. Another Doerr masterpiece
I’m first of all amazed at what Anthony Doerr has accomplished here—the delicate interweaving of centuries and cultures and characters that come together to tell this epic story. The people he creates here are every bit as compelling as the characters in All the Light. I was drawn in a little more in each chapter and in the end rewarded with a beautifully hopeful study of our humanity.
