What Members Thought
I was drawn to this by its beautiful cover! The story itself was not that special, to be honest. Mostly because it was predictable. But it did keep my interest, and I do not regret reading it. The characters were also decent.
Lots of witches and magic. Three timelines. Audio was wonderful.
With its sense of foreboding and string of truly evil men, this was a difficult book to read. And honestly, it was also tough to read Kate's and Violet's stories while they were hurt, manipulated, and weak. But I was swept into the stories of the three Weyward women of different eras and loved reading about the strength each of them found to move beyond the evil done to them. It's a difficult and wonderful book.
And the cover is gorgeous... and perfect.

I really enjoyed the themes of this book. The maternal lineage, and the connection all the Weyward women had with each other. I really wanted to love this book. It has all the elements I love but for some reason it felt a little flat. I think for me the connection between the Weyward women wasn’t portrayed as strong as I hoped. Even the ones who were alive at the same time weren’t in contact with each other. I think that is what missing for me. I enjoyed Altha’s story the most.
