This book wasn't what I thought it would be. I was expecting a lighthearted read but it was pretty heavy and sad.

None of what McCurdy's mom did was okay and Jennette suffered because of her own mother. However, her mother isn't alive anymore to share her story/perspective.

I am glad she finally is getting the help she needed and can begin healing.

It was so interesting to see that aspect of a relationship. It always amazes me how a mother can act that way towards a child, be abusive and dress it up as love. It was interesting and good to see that she was not writing out of a comeback, that she is still has a problem that will probably follow her the rest of her life and that she will not act again. Hopefully it was a cleansing for her and she can move forward.
