Despite all the hype Razorblade Tears was basically a well-written novelization of a straight-to-video revenge film. Entertaining if you like that kind of thing but brutal and the author's attempts to 'educate' the reader about various LGBTQ issues was as subtle as the rest of the narrative.

Who knew I would like this book as much as I did? I have almost nothing in common with the two main characters, Ike and Buddy Lee, two ex-cons, one black and one white, living very different lives. But the murder of their sons brings them together in a way their sons could not.

Gritty and violent, the story's main theme seems to be that of revenge. But there is so much more as the two adult men find their similarities and explore racism and prejudice against the LGBTQ community as well as what i ...more

Ok, I was perhaps just *slightly* disappointed by this one, but my expectations were also super high because I loved Blacktop Wasteland so much. This was still exciting and well-written, I just didn't love it quite as much.
