Shelves: own-from-trade, historical-fiction, botm-clubs

Nella and Eliza gripped me from the beginning, and the unraveling mystery sucked me along. The ending and the contemporary storyline fell flat, however. Too many things came easy, it all felt a bit rushed, and yet certain moments also lingered too long. I was well immersed and enjoyed the ride, so bumped it up to 4 stars.

Located in one of the hidden places, location revealed in whispers and passed on woman to woman, the apothecary’s aim is to ‘set things to right’. Secret mixtures passed down from mother to daughter, the work is dangerous and secret.
