I did not enjoy The Lost Girls of Paris as much as I did about The Orphan Train but it's still very much worth reading. The story of a branch of British Intelligence where young women were trained to be radio (telegraph) operators and then sent to German-occupied France to help thwart the Germans during WWII is interesting and well written, although a little unbelievable. Another historical fiction novel about the “girls” of Special Operations Executive or SOE. It had a bonus dual narrative with an American war widow.
I give this book 3.5 stars. WWII historical fiction is my absolute favorite and it took me nearly a month to get through the book. The author took pains to describe what intense training these women had. Yet how they acted in the field, doing things they would have learned not to do in the first week of training, just didn’t make sense.
