This was an absolutely amazing novel that has secured it's place among my all time favorite novels. I would definitely recommend this as a must-read! Bronte does an excellent job mixing a gothic mystery with a passionate love story. Where other "classical romances" may become slow or insipid, this one pulls you into the story and makes you a part of the intense emotions that are swirling around. There is no doubt why this book is a classic that has survived the ages. Mr. Rochester's character is one of my favorite literary characters. In addition, this book has many poignant thoughts. For example, one of my favorite quotes is, "Nature meant me on the whole to be a good man,...". In the movie this quote, being part of a longer verse was condensed to say, "It is not my fault for being on this path, but I must take the blame for continuing down it".
