Erika is at work again, in London after an investigation went very wrong in Manchester where her husband was killed. A girl is found frozen under the ice who turns out to be a wealthy doctor of a powerful and rich family. The family wants to control the investigation's direction and Erika is having none of it and as she digs deeper, she finds it isn't just the one murder she needs to worry about but several.

I liked both Erika and the supporting team members and it was a solid read. ...more

Shelves: mystery, thriller, hive2018

I quite enjoyed this mystery. I was concerned initially that this was going to be another tortured detective who can't focus on her work because of her sad past but it wasn't like that. She was actually a strong character who kept going with what she considered right despite what people said, stood up for herself and she wasn't stupid about it (mostly). I am looking forward to the next novel. ...more

I liked the premises of the story. I liked how I didn't know who the suspect was until closer to the end. There were quite a few characters who were potential suspects, but you had to wait until Robert Bryndza had laid them all out.

I didn't like Foster; I'm tired of the damaged cop - I feel its been overdone lately. I did feel that she was too out there; that she wasn't completely believable; but what she did was needed as a device to get the story to where the crime was solved.

Read it in 2 days....

I had a hard time getting into it for about 5 chapters and then it snared me and I couldn’t put it down all Saturday. Many characters and twists , I didn’t find it predictable at all. I’m going to keep reading the series....
