Rachel is an alcoholic mess and to avoid her own issues, she fantasizes a perfect life for a couple she see most days when she passes their house on the train. Only no life is perfect and one day she sees something that shocks her and gets her involved in their life and a crime.

Overall, I liked the book. That said, my biggest issue was how unlikable every character was. I mean, REALLY unlikable. It certainly kept me from enjoying the book as much as I had hoped.

Read it simply to understand what all the hype is about and because it will inevitably be turned into a movie. I liked this better than Gone Girl because it kept me guessing a lot longer about whodunnit.

I thought the book did what it is supposed to do; it kept me enterained, but it is nowhere near a bestseller worthy praise. The characters are not very likable. The plot, although entertaining, is pretty predictable. I was expecting a little more from a book with this many reviews on amazon and goodreads. It shows once again that trusting the reviews is not a good idea.:-)

I really enjoyed this....until the end. Most of the book was very exciting and suspenseful, with twists continuing to pop up making it challenging to predict what was coming. All of the characters are flawed, some extremely so, but (most) at least had their redeeming qualities, making them feel human and real. It's hard watching Rachel continue to make mistake after mistake, even when sober, but the unreliable narrator aspect made it all that more intriguing as the reader tries to sort through t ...more

I was disappointed that this book didn't live up to the hype.

It wasn't gripping or exciting. I guess the use of red herrings is what makes it Hitchockian?

I kept waiting for a big twist, an OMG moment or two, something really scary and dark, anything exciting. This book didn't deliver for me. I felt bad for Cathy, the hapless roommate who has to put up with Rachel.

I'd re-title this book Drunk Girl Cries Wolf.

This counts as a book that scares you for the 2015 PopSugar Reading Challenge. (Even t

It kept me so engrossed I read it in one sitting, couldn't stop or put it down. I didn't want to ruin the momentum and leave the world. Definitely so interesting twists and turns that kept me guessing straight through the end. Although, as my friend mentioned, the book could have also been titled, "The Girl Drunk on the Train" for all the drinking was a major character too. That was a little excessive even though we need to know she has a problem. That was a gripe. ...more

Maybe it was the format since I listened to the book, but this was sort of slow going and didn't have likeable characters. It was an interesting ending though. The averageness of the characters made me think of what any one of us may be capable of under different circumstances. ...more
