I’m a big fan of fantastical worlds, especially if there’s bows and arrows involved. Flanagan weaved a really impressionable story using both fantastical and historical elements. Of course, the historical parts are actually history inspired rather than actual re-imaginations of history. Reminds me of LOTR sometimes, yet far less complicated and definitely easier to read.

The first book seemed cliche at times, but not overly so that it bothered me too much. The books build with each installment, i

This has got to be one of my all-time favorite books. Will is such a free-spirited boy and Halt is that dominant, silent, intriguing teacher, father figure. It has amazing actions pieces, believable and appealing characters and brilliant descriptions and not to mention witty dialogue. This book is a perfect pick for any rainy day.

The story is fast-paced, action-packed, and

This story was so fun it pulled me in and I almost read the whole book in one sitting. I had fun following the ward kids as they became apprentices and began learning their jobs for the future. Will is a curious teen that seems very handy to have around. It will be interesting to see how he grows in the next few books.

I really enjoyed this novel, a lot more than I thought I would. It came highly recommended from my fiance after he started the series, but I had been pudging along at actually reading the novel. It's your usual adventure and it was simply an action-packed, wonderful read that kept you interested and wanting more. ...more
