THIS is one of the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th century? Why? I guess I missed something. Holden Caulfield is just an unpleasant character, and nothing much ever happens in the book. The story of Holden Caufield's weekend in New York after he is kicked out of boarding school again. Holden spends his time randomly roaming around as far as I could tell. I had heard that this was an amazing, can't miss, gotta read book. So i checked it out of the library. And i tried to like it, i really did. But all the main character does is brood and swear. Gave me a absolute headache. Maybe I would have appreciated this book more as a teen, but as a mom of teens, I just wanted to smack him. Sorry to offend anyone who enjoyed it.
