As usual, this was exciting book, full of interesting action and unexpected twists but I got mad by the way the business with Atticus and Granuaile got resolved. When I read a book in the first person, I expect to know something about that person's emotions but the author spent more time on wisecracks that on really revealing Atticus' feelings.
I don't know why I keep getting disappointed with the continued lack of emotional disclosure by Atticus. It's clear that the author is just not going ther ...more

Decent entertainment with some fun dialogue and humor (especially from Oberon as usual). Oddly enough I was actually happy to see Atticus get hurt. Given that all the gods are pretty much afraid of him now (and he seems to knock them off pretty easily) it was refreshing to actually see him taken down in a fight.
A couple of things annoy me though and keep me from rating this higher. Firstly, Atticus is supposed to be 2000 years old but he seems to have the emotional maturity of the bacon scarfin ...more

More like 4.25 stars, so I didn't round up to five stars.
This is such a fun series. I was glad that the author fast forwarded a bit so we could see some development between Atticus and his apprentice, Granuaile. She's finally ready to be bound to the earth so she can become a full druid, but of course everyone and their mother is after Atticus, so his plans get interrupted several times. He fights gods, goes to hell, dines with the fae...and it's all in a day's work.

Great big bears! I love this series. So fun and tangled and incredibly clever.
This series just keeps being awesome. It's really good to see Granuaile start being a badass in her own right, and Oberon continues to be one of my favorite characters in all of urban fantasy. I also just love Atticus's narrative voice, its directness and the way his wisdom is overlaid with pop culture references and regular dude-ness. I have the sixth one on my Nook already, can't wait to dive in.
