In Sleeping Giants, large pieces of what appear to be a giant robot are being discovered all over the world. The pieces seem to be thousands of years old, a time when no known human civilization would have the technology need to build them. This book is told in a series of interview and "case files," which I imagine would be pretty dry to actually read. However, the audio version brings a lot to the characters' personalities with a cast of narrators.

i love stories in epistolary format, and listening to this on audio rather than reading was totally the right way to go. my thoughts mostly take the form of "critique, but, compliment" : i still stand by my assessment that this was heavily inspired by pacific rim, but in the end that didn't turn out to be a bad thing. there's definitely a few moments that make it clear that it was written by a straight dude, but overall it was good to its women characters. no queers, but thankfully romance isn't
