Odd Thomas can see the dead, though they don't talk, and occasionally he uses this to help the police solve murders. Odd is a short order cook and completely in love with Stormy. A customer comes into the restaurant where Odd works and is surrounded by bodachs, evil beings who seem to be attracted to future tragedies. Odd sets out to try to stop whatever horror is about to occur. A suspenseful book that also made me cry, I didn't expect the crying from a Koontz book. I will be continuing the ser

Wow! This was an incredible book. I was so taken by the story and the uniqueness of it. I love how Koontz slowly revealed Odd’s history through out the book. I kept thinking to myself, this is a very “odd” book but I’m liking it. The characters were so interesting and likeable. The “bodach” reference was ingenious. And mixed in with all of this eerie atmosphere was a little bit of humor. I got a kick out of the Elvis apparition. I am enamored with Odd and I am looking forward to picking up the n

What a great book!
A fry cook, 20 years old, who "communicates with the dead". His name is Odd, and that's just what he is...but in a good way. Great characters--all odd-balls (har!). Some interesting ideas about what happens to spirits after death...and a new use for the acronym PMS.
I look forward to the rest of the series--I know, I keep saying that! ...more

Odd is a wonderful character. While the hero of the book, he is reluctant, has a sense of duty and looks at each situation for the humor. His friends are also a great mix of "real" human characters. A quick and entertaining read, both funny and exciting and will put a lump in your throat.

It took a while to get into this book. But it did pick up and it was good. I cried and was really upset with this book. Not sure if I want to pick up the other books in the series. I kind of do and kind of dont. We shall see.
LOVED this book. This is the vintage Koontz I've been missing.
