I am really uncertain about this one. It is certainly a great example of the art of thriller writer I felt the whole range of emotions reading this and there were times when my heart was truly in my mouth. At the same time there is something that makes you want to deny that things could truly have happened in this way, all just a little bit OTT or unbelievable. I liked the characterisation of Sachs and Rhyme and may well read more but it does require a bit of suspending credibility.

I first saw the film years ago and didn't even realise that it was a book. The book is creepier than the film as you get the killers perspective as well as Rhyme's and Amelia's. I was quite shocked at who the killer turned out to be and I didn't feel sorry for him but could understand the reasoning behind it even if it was horrific what he did. I will definitely read the next Rhyme book.
