At the beginning of this book, I wondered if it would really be possible for Deaver to take a quadraplegic who is planning suicide and make him into a credible main character. I'm still not sure how he accomplished it, but Lincoln Rhyme turned out to be a great hero. I really liked his character, even when he was grumpy and ill tempered. I enjoyed seeing him open up to others again as he became involved in the investigation. I felt very sympathetic toward him when he showed vulnerability in how

Lincoln Rhyme: antihero, criminologist, C4 quadraplegic and depressed man planning his suicide turns out to be a genius who solves the crime and saves the lives of the potential victims. And on the way meets a feisty red-headed cop who doesn't want to be there but takes direction well, becoming his "legs" for him. Sounds like a classic pot-boiler thriller/crime plot? Well yes, but it's a fun read anyway.

-(#1 in the Rhyme series)- "The hero of Jeffery Deaver's thriller The Bone Collector is Lincoln Rhyme, a forensic scientist known to his peers as "the world's foremost criminalist." Rhyme will need all his reason--and his considerable stock of high-tech tools--about him to solve this latest brain-twister: a serial killer with method to his madness. In tried and true thriller fashion, the killer's crimes are described in lurid detail, as is the astounding technological equipment with which Rhyme

Wow, this was so intense - I loved it! I stayed up way, way, way too late to finish; just couldn't put this one down! The forensics were incredible, the writing taut, the characters human and memorable. Lincoln Rhyme is quite the different protagonist; lovable even through the surly brusqueness. Amelia Sachs was an unlikely, but completely believable "Watson." The mystery was so intense and I never saw the ending coming. I can't believe I've not discovered this series until now and can't wait to

Lincoln Rhyme is a forensic scientist who is also a quadriplegic - who can move one finger! So how is he able to do his job?! Enter Amelia Sachs, who becomes Lincoln's eyes & legs at the scene as he trains her to 'walk the grid' of crime scenes and bring the evidence back to him for analysis and conclusions. Usually I get turned off as authors become too wordy about technical aspects of a job, but this just worked for me, partly I think because Lincoln's brain & mind & voice are the only parts o

I remember reading this years ago and not being able to put it down. The characters where interesting and likeable. The story line and clues where also very interesting. This will definitely remain in my collection and be a re-read. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good thriller and mystery. Some parts of the book are pretty gory and graphic.
I was drawn into this novel and enjoyed the search for the Bone Collector. The ending was a bit surprising but believable. There are graphic descriptions of the crimes which could turn some people off but it didn't bother me. I'll definitely read more Rhyme/Sachs novels.
