It's nice to know that vampires can't come back as ghost once they're definitely dead!
I knew i was liking this book more than the previous ones in the series when I got really involved in the story well before the halfway mark, thus my 4* rating. And in this book I may have found a good reason for continuing the Sookie series! I found the earlier books to be easy reads, but of the I-can-take-them-or-leave-them variety. But this one got me more involved for a variety of reasons - Sookie went to N

The sixth installment of the Sookie Stackhouse series and the wit and entertainment continues. In this installment Sookie has to go down to New Orleans and clear out her cousin's (Hadley, only briefly mentioned in the previous books) apartment following her 'second' death (note she was a vampire, this was not mentioned before and is a tad confusing to start with). In doing so she meets the Queen of Louisiana, Hadley's lover, and finds out a very shocking truth about Bill (not going to tell you w ...more

I bought a pack of 10 Sookie Stackhouse books, and then I read them one after the other. Sure, they're light and entertaining books, but I'm not sure a marathon of them is the best idea. Apparently the hobbies of Sookie Stackhouse seem to be shaving her legs and sunbathing. Sometimes the vampire and werewolf stuff almost seems a bit of an aside.

Sookie's cousin Hadley, who at some point was turned into a vampire, has died and she must go to New Orleans to clean out Hadley's apartment. Sookie has also started dating Quinn, a weretiger. We also find out a bit more about why supernatural beings are attracted to Sookie. The main storyline didn't start until about a third of the way through the book and I found the beginning to be slow going. The book brought witches more to the forefront of the action. I am glad Sookie actually didn't sleep ...more

I had begun to tire of this series and this book piqued my interest once again. The life of Sookie Stackhouse is never dull. This installment follows her to New Orleans to meet the Queen of Louisiana. Full of supernatural characters and plenty of antics this was a quick read that was like candy for my mind.

Sookie never disappoints on the entertainment and light reading front. Just what I needed after the epic Lonesome Dove.
