This is a historical novel with two tales, the tale of Nell the child who was found abandoned on a ship that landed in Australia in 1913 and the story of Cassandra her granddaughter.

This is a good book. I had thought that it was a fantasy book going into it but really the only fantasy is in the form of fairy tales written by one if the characters. The book is mysterious and very satisfying. 4 1/2 stars.
This book grabbed my attention with the first sentence and held me captive.
