I was captivated by the 17 year-old narrator, Cassandra. She is wonderfully engaging and believable. EBN48 category: a book with a dwelling in the title
This is one of those books which everyone I knew raved about and now that I have read it, I can completely understand what the fuss was about. Cassandra is the most wonderful voice. I felt like I was listening to my best friend as she spoke. Although the story was simple, it was told so beautifully. I sat up until well into the night to finish it because I just had to know what happened. But I think what struck me most of all was that so many of the thoughts that Cassandra recorded matched my ow

Wonderful coming of age book with such a beautiful, visual style of writing. Cassandra is a charming character who is aware of, and not afraid of her faults.
For the majority of this book, it read like an Austen novel set in the 1930s. (In a castle). Strangely, as the plot came to a head I started to lose some interest, or maybe I was losing my affection for the characters. All in all, though, it's a quaint read.
