A bear is searching for his missing hat, and asks a number of other animals whether they've seen it.

The artwork is gorgeous, and the sparse writing matches it perfectly. Together, they make a book that will be fun to read out loud over and over again. And there's subtle, ironic humor on the pages where an animal is lying (once a rabbit to the bear, and the second time the bear to a rabbit). I love the twist ending at the end of this book. Very subtle. It may be more for the grownups reading it... ;-)

5/17/13 - I read this to my 3-5 storytime today and a little boy picked up on what happened to the rabbit. Also, I thought this book wouldn't do well due to the lack of clarity of who was talking, but the kids seemed to following along really well! ...more
