So this is the second book that I have read by Gregory Maguire (read Wicked awhile ago), I it is always an interesting experience for me. He always has a way of making the stories so much darker, and adds new life to characters that were one dimensional in the classic fairy tales. This is not the best of his books.
I wasn't really sure what to think about this book. I have heard good things about the author and I have always been interested in fairy tales. However, this book was slow to read at first. It got better towards the end, but I just wasn't really that into it. I also had a hard time understanding some of the lingo used in it. I hope the next book I picked from this author is better. It's not a terrible read not just not as good as I thought.

Quite enjoyable twist on the Cinderella story, told by the stepsister. Magical at times and extremely descriptive. Maguire makes the scene come alive as if you are standing in the book with the characters.

A bit of a indepth telling of the story of Cinderella. I expected more from this book but once I got past the first half (which was quite the effort!) I would say I quite enjoyed myself.
