Am torn with how I feel about it.
I was loving it for about the first 80 pages but then found my mind wandering away from the writing alot when the author kept suddenly taking off on a flight of fancy. I found it difficult to follow and not particularly interesting - is a shame as the idea was skilled and in some places very atmospheric.
Maybe this author just isn’t for me.

Una lettura molto piacevole, una bella favola gotica e un'importante lezione di vita. Molto interessante la caratterizzazione dei personaggi, a partire dai due amici, agli strani esseri che popolano il luna park, passando per il padre di Will, forse il vero eroe.

I've tried to read this book so many times but just couldn't get into it.
This time I decided that I was going to just push through the first part in the hopes that I would start enjoying the book. Unfortunately I was wrong.
This book is less than 300 pages and it took me 10 days to read it. I literally couldn't read more than a few pages without falling asleep. It's a great cure for insomnia!
I did give it a couple of stars because the story and the concept itself is so much fun, the short parts o ...more

It's really good. Beautiful prose and such good atmosphere and imagery. I do feel that the ending tips a bit into saccharine, especially combined with the rose-glasses we're seeing the whole time period through.
