What Members Thought
Most of this book is tedious as DH Lawrence could find no way to adequately deal with emotions (ie love and hate). The characters are stunted emotionally and seem to be the writer's idea of that particular character type rather than a fully drawn person. Not a favorite classic.

I was surprised that I enjoyed this novel as it was written in 1910. I thought I would miss certain gadgets like phones and tv. But they would have no place in this tale. A miner's son who loved his mother so much that she ruined him for all others. Most of the time it was incestuous, however there were moments of "ick". I do think most of the women in this novel were missing backbones and were written to be seen and not heard.
