I thought I wouldn't like this book, but I absolutely loved it - I mean full-on, never-wanted-it-to-finish, loved it. The writing flowed so beautifully, the characters were unbelievably real, and the premise and setting was amazing. I am still stunned. I would never have picked this book up normally and I can't believe I would have missed out. Liked this so much more than I expected to. Very glad to have book two on hand. =)
2023 note : Man, this series endures really well.
I really liked the heroine, Blue. She's a wonderful character who managed to have personality and interesting thoughts. I also generally enjoyed the other characters and came to care about them during the story.
Unfortunately, the magic here was a little to heavy for the book. The sleeping Welsh King/ley line/talking trees just overwhelmed the story for me. I didn't have patience for the way the magic developed, nor was I that taken with the ending. I don't think I'll be continuing with this seri ...more

The characters were very interesting and I the liked the writing too. I thought the book moved slowly though. It seemed like it took forever to read.
I loved this! When I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about it in the back of my mind and figuring out when I could get more time to read. The characters felt very real and completely interesting. I'm not sure whether or not I would like some of them in real life, but they were great to read about. How soon is the next one coming out??
