I tried to read this a few times-once in junior high and once or twice after-but I never got past the first few chapters which makes sense since other than the possible appearance of a ghost, the beginning is really boring. Despite the boring beginning, I always had intentions of picking this one up again, going so far as to buy not one, but two copies-I clearly need to check my shelves before I head out to library book sales.

I had read this as a teenager and didn't remember a thing, so just reread with a friend. Yes, you could make the argument for it being a romance with a lasting love that even death cannot end. However, you can also make the argument that what Katherine and Healthcliff had was not true love but cruel relationship in which they punished each other and those around them.
