Well, I, too, have been sucked into the series. I'd like to give a slightly different review. This book challenged many of the views I've held previously. I don't usually read violent, exploitative novels. I find hunting barbaric and don't particularly like hunters. I don't like the rich suppressing the poor, youth and their elders pitted against one another, countryfolk disdaining cityfolk. Some of the same things that make Westerfeld's "Uglies" series so terrific are at play here. Adolescent female Katniss is a terrific protagonist, wiser and stronger and a better person than she gives herself credit for. Watching Katniss and those close to her deal with the inhuman situation she's forced into is a constant thrill, and the plot raises not only moral dilemmas for Katniss, but ethical issues for us to ponder about governments' ability to protect some people's "rights" at the expense

I saw great reviews for this book and had high expectations - and this book surpassed those! I loved it, it had a bit of everything. I can't wait to read Catching Fire!

This book was okay. I did like the main character of Katniss. I just didn't think that it lived up to the hype. The Games didn't give enough challenge and was more a way of just killing everyone off.

A fresh YA book. Needed a break from the vampire madness. Fast-paced yet the characters are unforgettable.
