Greer’s Less is such an apropos title because throughout the novel I kept thinking I wanted “Less” so much Less, and Greer just kept giving me more.
The book centers on Andrew Less a mediocre writer spiraling toward 50 who to avoid the upcoming marriage of his former lover and the aforementioned chronological milestone embarks on a whirlwind literary junket to avoid both impending occasions. Damn it. I was not going to like this. I meandered along with poor laughable Arthur Less, totally convinced there would be no point, and then - it got me in the feels. How did we get there in the last bit?
I really had trouble liking this book although many did. I found its 'around the world' structure artificial and 'forced' to the point that it distracted from the themes of the book, time, denial, loyalty and love. Arthur Less is a sympathetic enough character, often funny, often interesting, always introspective but at the end of the day, I just couldn't bring myself to like the story.

I had a hard time getting into this, maybe because I was only able to read in very short spans at the beginning. It picked up for me as he travelled, and I was able to read for longer periods. Such characters! And I loved the situations that Less always seemed to stumble into. Very heartwarming.
