Changing from an e-book to an audio book, from LibriVox.
One of the more likable Victorian literature. Quite lighthearted and amusing. There was no "plot" per se; just a story of the women of Cranford. There were men, but they didn't play major roles in the story. These were nice women, though they seemed a tad pretentious to me. But they cracked me up for the most part.

Oh, this was lovely. Bought a very pretty edition at Blackwell’s in Oxford (gilt pages and a ribbon!), thinking my mother would like it, and now that I’ve read it, I want to keep it! And to know what a “bread jelly” is.
