This book was emotionally draining me. There was moments I wanted to throw my Kindle away, smiled, cried and I am lost for words.

Emma Thomas is a girl who is broken and struggling from evil heartless aunt, she wants to invisible and her only mate is Sara. She tops in her studies and sports.

Evan Matthews comes along and she sees her thru! I love him so much and he is so close to my heart! He is so caring and adorable. I was so touched by his actions ;)

I have one word that summarizes what this book was for me: Intense. I am so glad that I waited for all of the series to be written before I read it as there is a HUGE cliffhanger at the end of this. I would not have been very happy if I would have had to wait for months to find out what happened. This story was heartbreaking at times, and then at other times it was heartwarming. It showed me how the power of love can deliver the strength an individual needs to endure such wicked torment, that mo I have one word that summarizes what this book was for me: Intense. Emma is a girl who has already been dealt a hard enough blow in her life with losing her parents. Her dad is dead, and her mom has a drinking problem and is not able to take care of Emma. Most people would have their plates full with just that happening; but on top of all that, Emma also is in the hands of her Aunt and Uncle. Her Aunt is nothing but cruel to Emma, actually...cruel is too nice of a word. This woman is down right evil, and the abuse that she delivers to Emma made me sick to my stomach. The cycle of abuse is such a horrible thing, and it is very prominent when this story unfolds, the way Emma passes off her injuries as accidents; and how she suffers in silence just broke my heart.
In all of the darkness there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel for Emma; until the day she meets Evan. I adored his character, he made life worth living for Emma. He gave her something to look forward to in the middle of all the torture and pain.

Rebecca Donovan knows how to write a book that will have the reader experience a wide array of emotions. At times Emma's abuse was gut wrenching, I didn't know if I would be able to continue reading the story, and yet I just couldn't stop. My four star rating was because a few times I found the story to reach a bit of slow part, and I would get antsy, waiting for something to happen. All in all, this is a story that shows us how important love is in this hard journey that we call life. ...more
