I have seen my fair share of bookish boy friends. I have swooned, screamed, stepped on baby kittens (unintentionally), and taken innumerable cold showers. None have ever made me go as bat shit crazy as Trent. Ladies (and gentlemen) --- You are in for a treat with this one. He is overly creepy, incredible sexy, deeply rash, and just utterly mouth watering. I held my breath each time he spoke or moved or disappeared.

This book was.... I actually can't come up with a word outside of amazing, epic. I could go on..

I am slightly annoyed with myself. For some reason I put this one off even though so many of my GoodReads friends were reading and loving it. I assumed the cover was for a paranormal book, and I have been steering clear of that genre for sometime now..

I am so glad I picked it up..

Ten Tiny Breaths started out so strong, I love damaged characters, I love seeing the transformation, the healing powers of the mind. But, one of the most important elements of a book (at least in my mind), is real-life stories. If the facts would have been accurate, this would have been an easy 4 stars.

Ten Tiny Breaths started out so strong, I love damaged characters, I love seeing the transformation, the healing powers of the mind. But, one of the most important elements of a book (at least in my mind), is real-life stories. If the facts would have been accurate, this would have been an easy 4 stars.

Kacey Cleary has been through more in one lifetime than anybody should ever have to endure. She now has the responsibility of raising her teenaged sister Livie. She loves her sister with her entire heart, and is willing to do anything to keep her safe. When they move to Florida, there is a new hottie next door, Trent, who is very into her from the beginning. He is protective, and making an attempt to help Kacey get past her issues, and trust again.

“I’ll make you whole again, Kacey. I promise you, I will,” he whispers. And then his mouth covers mine.

“Give me your heart Kacey. I’ll take everything that comes with it.”

Kacey has too many problems to deal with on her own, and has to lean on Dr. Stayner for professional help. This is where my issue came. Writing a story about a psychiatrist giving advice, the author should actually do some research on this subject, even if it's just doing a simple google search on mental-disease treatment. Though the issues Kacey had in this book were very possible in real life, the words the good doctor used could've easily been changed to accurately portray things a psychiatrist would say and do. The book could've still had the same ending, at the same time raising awareness on how serious mental diseases are and how to get help for them.

“Yes I do hate him.” I spit back, my voice losing some of it’s strength. I hate Dr. Stayner right now. I hate him because in the back of my mind, I know he’s right.

Ten Tiny Breaths is about becoming whole again. It’s about life after death and loss. Can a brain recover from such loss? Can we ever find our old selves though the dark? Sometimes, it’s best to just breathe.

Take ten tiny breaths. Seize them. Feel them. Love them.

BOOK REVIEW – Ten Tiny Breaths – K.A. Tucker – 4.5 Stars.

A story of love and loss. Of tragedy and heartbreak. And new beginnings.

I don’t quite know where to start with this review. I guess I should seize Mrs Cleary’s advice and take ten tiny breaths…it may help with the hyperventilating and dislodge the lump that weaved itself up into my throat, especially within the last 10-15% of this magnificent book.

I stayed up all night reading "Ten Tiny Breaths". It was surprisingly good, even though the book's twist was glaringly obvious by just reading the Amazon description. It is about Kacey, whose parents, best friend, and boyfriend were killed by a drunk driver. Four years later, she still hasn't dealt with her PTSD, but Trent, a young and attractive man, helps open her eyes. Kacey Cleary is so broken, just a shell of her former self after the fatal car crash that took her parents, best friend, and boyfriend, but left her alive. When her uncle does the unthinkable and she makes the decision to take her 15-year-old sister (Livvie) and run, neither of them know what to expect when they reach their new lives in Miami. Livie was definitely Kacey's rock after the accident and they shared an unbreakable bond that all sisters she have. Every time Kacey relived the accident through her nightmares, or faced her paralyzing fears, or tried to take her ten tiny breaths, I felt the emotions with her. It was a lonely, dark existence for her, but she'd grown accustomed to it. It was comfortable because by not loving, she couldn't lose. She could wallow in the loss, feeling like a part of herself was always missing, and deal with it in her own way; until she met Trent Emerson.

It didn't take long for the girls to settle in and meet their neighbors, and wow were these memorable characters!! Storm, the gorgeous single mom next door, easily wormed her way into Kacey's heart right along with her adorable daughter Mia. I just loved her as a supporting character, she was like another sister to Kacey and brought the ray of sunshine they so desperately needed. Trent, gorgeous guy with sexy dimples and the most mesmerizing eyes basically shows Kacey how to breath and live again despite the walls she has around her heart. Trent never gives up trying to break through and find the real Kacey. He was so sexy but at the same time respected Kacey enough to be patient for her...even when patience was the last thing she wanted!! I loved how Trent cared so much for her that he really thought of her needs first, and they had so many beautiful moments together because of that alone.

“I want to make you smile. For real. Always. We’re going to go for dinners, and see movies, and walk on the beach. We’ll go hang-gliding, or bungee jumping, or whatever you want to do. Whatever makes you smile and laugh more.” “Let me make you smile.” ~ Trent

When the huge twist is revealed, my heart broke and I had tears in my eyes pretty much for the rest of the book as everything played out. Trent doesn't just have a past, he has a ticking time bomb. Just when you think the depths of Kacey's loss couldn't go any further, she finds herself utterly destroyed, once pulled above the water by Trent's determination and love, and now shoved right back under. My heart was torn out right along with hers as she faced the truth and tried to fight through the pain.

I just couldn't get into this book. I think it had an interesting twist that may have worked better for me if it was revealed to the reader earlier on. I didn't feel the characters' emotions - other than Kacey's anger. The story also progressed too quickly and for that reason, was just not believable. ...more

Every time I'm on the fence about reading a book, I end up loving it at the end. The same holds true for this book. This is a well written book about loss, forgiveness and love.
