So it has taken me a few days to gather my thoughts about this book. Let me just say I didn't want to love it. It was a total mindfuck. Given the content you feel like you shouldn't love the book but one just can't help themselves. This book was excellent. I love and hated Caleb and in the end he won my heart. This one was even better than the first!
Once the initial confusion wore off, I loved the way the book was divided by past (straight after Captive...) and the present.

The book starts in the present; Olivia is in hospital being accused of Terrorism. OMG!! Hands off to CJ Roberts!

WOW!!!!!!!!! I totally loved this book. I was reeling mid of the book and jumping with happiness and excitement by the end!!! This is one of my favourite series :)

Caleb is Caleb!!! Caleb and Livvie falling in love *my heart just broke*

CJ Roberts, what have you done to me?! SITD absolutely took my breath away...consumed me...was consumed by me...and will be INSIDE of me for a long, long time! I'm so completely blown away by this story, and it has my thoughts going in so many directions, I'm at a loss for words...and I'm not alone. My Facebook friends are right there with me.

To be honest, I didn't think it could get any better than Captivated in the Dark...but I was so wrong! I only thought CITD was "dark." This book took me on a deeper journey into the darkness that is so Caleb. So much was revealed of Caleb's life, his past, his experiences, and what made him the man he became. I was so confused at the feelings coming from me. The adventure on which the author took me, from the first book through the last, was truly captivating! My heart broke for Caleb, and I found myself screaming so many times, "Nooooooo!!!!" I was hurting so badly. I was thinking to myself, where is CJ going with this?! No, it can't be!!

But then, my reading hit that pivotal point, and I hated Caleb. I didn't think it possible, but I really did HATE him in those moments. I was sickened by his actions and his treatment of Livvie. He was beyond cruel.

But then I came to the point ... I pitied Caleb. So much of his experiences were on repeat visually in my mind. My poor Caleb. I cried...no, I SOBBED! Can you feel the roller coaster I'm on? My stomach was literally clinching and heaving! Caleb had to survive so much...alone...throughout his tortured life. How could I not pity him ... and love him? Once again, I am feeling as though I should pack my bags, skip any visits to a therapist, and just move right into the nearest mental institution.

One minute, Caleb seems human and with a heart of gold ... like he might just be capable of receiving and giving love. The next minute, he is savage!

Oh! The hurt!! I loved hating Caleb, and I hated loving Caleb. Then, I just accepted loving Caleb and all of his screwed up, demented, disturbing, and sickening ways. I chose to believe he really loves Livvie; I was convinced of that in the first book, and I'm still convinced in this one. He's always wanted her, lusted for her. But, does he win her? Is he redeemable? Does he get to keep her? Will they have a happy ever after, or will they part ways for good?

I'm pretty sure I have welts on my own back side from just reading this book! I really felt everything in this book! CJ Roberts has given us nothing short of brilliance. She gave me such angst, fear, a big twist...and then another big twist, and tears ... so many blessed tears! I found myself begging and saying out loud while reading, "Oh! Please, please, please, let it happen!!" I found myself doing the happy, happy, joy, joy dance at one point , only to to be vivisected the next! Yes, CJ Roberts, I too have been vivisected!! To describe this book, I would have to say that Seduced in the Dark has created its own genre. It is an exotic, psychological, erotic, romantic, BDSM thriller that will take you into the darkest of regions you didn't even know existed. I recommend that you read Captive in the Dark, first to really understand where this book is coming from; you won't be disappointed. I give this book so many more than 5 stars and recommend it to those who are willing to take a thrilling ride on the dark side. ...more

Okay, so after being disapointed in how abruptly the last book ended, I was happy to dig right in to the second book immediately after finishing book one.

In this installment you get a lot more answers and figure out a lot more details that a very important to the story. Why Caleb is who he is. I felt like in the first book I didn't have enough information as to why Livvie was falling for this guy. This book gives the story more depth. Yes, it's dark, yes it is disturbing, a lot of people are going to think it's sick and twisted and not read it. But there are going to be a whole bunch of other people like me, who couldn't put it down. Who needed to read it, who needed to know the why's of it all.
I needed to know what happend next.

In this book Livvie gets to narrate her story to and FBI guy named Reed. To hear her tell it, and then explain it in her head, helped a lot I think.

While I couldn't see the initial reason for her falling for this guy, after reading it all, I can understand it more now. I guess I feel like if your in that situation, your going to lean on the person who is protecting you, and while a lot of the time she needed protected from Caleb himself, he still ended up being tender toward her in a time where she was only being abused. So for her to yearn for that tenderness, I guess was the first bit of her falling for him.
Also I'd say that most Captors aren't handsome young men. Most are dirt bags and nasty. So I'm sure looks did have their appeal.

As for Caleb... There are people out there in the world that are broken. People who were brought up in a way that they cannot help. When you only know that lifestyle, it's hard to change. Caleb was bred for this. His purpose once abducted, was just to survive, and once he was saved by Rafiq, his loyalty was to this man who saved him. It took kidnapping Livvie for him to get feelings. In life that happens! Sometimes something needs to happen for that switch to be flipped. Livvie flipped Caleb's switch. While in the begining he didn't want it, he came to need it. In that, she changed him, and made him think about what he could be beyond a killer seeking revenge.

I personally think it was a great read. It was soooo different. It was Dark, and yes, even exotic in ways. I know my jaw was hanging open during sooo many parts of this book. But I was really happy with the way it ended. I can't wait to see what happens next! ...more

It's hard to believe that I wasn't even going to read this series. I'm a hopeless romantic - the kind of girl who loves reading about the swoon, the mushy stuff. I usually pass on the dark romance books, it's really just not my thing. But EVERYONE told me to read this; some saying it was their favorite book ever and I just couldn't believe from the synopsis of the first book that I'd like it. Dangerously mind bending,emotionally heart wrenching,beautifully disturbing and full of suspense and anticipation.
